Senator Raoul Endorses Will Burns for State Representative
Dear Friends in the 13th Legislative District:
I'm writing to you to bring your attention to a very important primary election that is crucial to you and your family.
A very talented and well-educated young man named Will Burns is a Democratic candidate for State Representative of the 26th Representative District, which is half of the 13th Legislative District that I represent. That's why I'm putting so much time and effort into this upcoming Democratic primary.
Will was formerly Deputy Campaign Manager and Community Outreach Coordinator for my predecessor, U.S. Senator and Presidential candidate Barack Obama. Senator Obama, with whom Burns worked closely for years, recognized his ability to communicate effectively to diverse audiences. Obama said that his protégé Will
Burns was the type of guy who could, "make a strong presentation to a corporate board, and then head to the neighborhood." (Crains Chicago Business, July 2, 2001)
Will Burns has unmatched experience to represent this diverse and intellectually rich lakefront district. Since earning his B.A. and M.A. from the University of Chicago, Burns has wasted no time gaining hands on experience at crafting legislation and shaping public policy in Illinois. He has successfully served as Vice President of the Chicago Urban League, Education and Tax Policy Manager for Metropolitan Planning Council and most recently as Senior Adviser and Deputy Chief of Staff to the State Senate President. Will has also remained committed to community by working with youth through the Blue Gargoyle Youth Services and the Mikva Challenge. With so many critical issues in Springfield such as education and mass transit funding, access to affordable health care, property tax relief and the prevention of gun violence, it is critical that we send our most competent and experienced people down to represent us. We cannot afford to do less!
I ask that you send Will Burns, a committed husband and father, to Springfield to represent all of the families of the 26th Representative District.
The election is Tuesday, February 5, 2007 so we need your help and your vote now.
Volunteer at our campaign office at 2325 South Michigan Avenue or call us at (312) 458-9192. Or go to his Web site, www.friendsofwillburns.com.
Please act now to help our community.
Sincerely,
Kwame Raoul
State Senator, 13th District
